Nike Arsenal Highbury 1913-2006
Arsenal marked their final year at Highbury stadium with a new kit paying tribute to the 1913 original.
Simultaneously celebrating the club’s past and welcoming it’s future, we faithfully recreated a classic 1913 team photo with today’s players. An element of tongue-in-cheek humour at play, it guaranteed an entertaining shoot. From concept to print, we oversaw the entire campaign including art directing the photography, image re-touching and expanding the concept into a range of collectible collateral. The campaign was brought to life in NikeTown with a gallery installation of museum-style gilt frames showcasing images treated in post-production to appear aged. Further retail experiences included all Arsenal club stores, Soccerscene and JJB Sports nationwide.
In constructing our creative we achieved a little-realised coup in the world of sports sponsorship by photographing the entire first team, Wenger and key managerial staff, where every single player is shown wearing the Nike kit.
The move to Emirates marked a major event in Arsenal’s history and Nike’s commemorative kit became not only a must have collector’s item, but a piece of football history in itself.
